Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 September 2026. Version 1.1.
This Privacy Policy explains how IW Services and Matrimonial Private Limited (CIN U56210DL2023PTC414515), which owns and operates Evara Matrimony ("Evara", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data. Evara Matrimony was formerly known as Imperial Weddings; it is the same company, renamed in 2024. This policy is aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). Please also read our Terms of Use. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Evara is the Data Fiduciary, and you, as the individual whose personal data we process, are the Data Principal.
1. Our commitment
Protecting your personal data is central to how we operate. We collect only what we need to provide a safe and effective matrimony service, and we process it for the purposes described in this policy.
2. The information we collect
Information you provide: profile and registration data, such as your name, gender, date of birth, contact details, education, profession, marital status, community, location, photographs, and partner preferences; sensitive personal data, such as identity documents and the photograph and facial image you submit for verification, which you provide with your consent for verification and for trust and safety; payment data, where you purchase a paid membership or service, which is processed by our payment partner, so we do not store your full card or bank details; communications, including messages you exchange with other Members through the Platform and information you share with the Evara team; and information you ask us to display, such as a success story or photographs.
Information from other sources: with your consent, or where permitted, we may receive information from referrals or matrimony-related sources to help connect you with a suitable match.
Usage data: information about how you use the Platform, including device and log information, collected to operate, secure, and improve the service.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to register and manage your account; to provide the service, including showing relevant matches and displaying your profile to other Members in line with your settings; to carry out identity and face verification; to process payments; to provide customer support; to communicate with you about your account, services, offers, and updates; to conduct research and analysis, including with automated and machine-learning techniques, to improve and secure our services; and to comply with applicable law. We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you provide when you register and use the Platform, and on other lawful bases recognised under the DPDP Act. You warrant that the personal data you provide is accurate and current.
4. Your consent and your choices
By providing your information and using the Platform, you consent to the processing described in this policy. You can manage what you share with other Members through your privacy settings. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us or by deleting your account; where you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to provide the service, and withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out or processing we are required by law to continue.
That route is about the consent you give for matchmaking and for the rest of this policy. Advertising runs under that same consent, so we do not ask you for it separately. You can still turn Evara ads on Facebook and Instagram off yourself, at any time, with one tap, and back on the same way. Section 10 explains where the control is and what it changes.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only as follows: with other Members, to the extent needed to provide the service and in line with your privacy settings; with service providers and partners who help us run the Platform, such as hosting, payment processing, communications, analytics, and verification providers, under confidentiality and data-protection obligations and only as needed to perform services for us; and with law enforcement or other authorities where required by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process or to protect the rights, safety, and interests of our Members, the public, or Evara.
6. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, and thereafter for as long as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.
7. Your rights as a Data Principal
Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it; to seek correction, completion, updating, or erasure of your personal data; to grievance redressal; and to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer using the details below. Some data may be retained where the law requires.
8. How we secure your information
We follow accepted industry standards to protect your personal data, including encryption of sensitive information such as payment data in transit. Access to your personal data within Evara is restricted to those who need it to perform their role. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Platform is intended only for persons aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect or process the personal data of children. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it.
10. Counting, cookies, and advertising
There are two separate things in this section. One is us counting how our own pages are used. The other is advertising by Meta. They are not the same thing. Both run under the consent you gave when you signed up, so neither of them stops to ask you again, and the Meta one you can switch off yourself at any time.
Counting our own pages. We count things like how many people opened a page and how many went on to the next step. What we keep is one number, for one day, for one page, for one action. It holds no name, no email address, no postal address, no phone number, no device identifier and no session key. It cannot be traced back to you, or to anyone else. It is counted on our own servers and it stays there. We never send it to anybody else. We do not ask you about this counting, because there is nothing in it that is about you.
Advertising by Meta. This starts on the first page you open, without asking, because it is part of the consent you gave when you signed up. We let Meta know you visited, so we can show you Evara ads on Facebook and Instagram. Three things switch on together, and only together: Meta code on our pages, a message from our servers to Meta if you go on to pay, and the storing on your device of the click tags and campaign labels on the link you arrived from, which include fbclid and gclid. Switching it off costs you nothing. Every part of Evara works the same, and every price is the same, whichever you choose.
What Meta never gets. We never send Meta anything from your profile. Not your name, not your photographs, not your contact details, not your partner preferences. We do not let your search filters reach Meta either, so what you filter by, including religion, community and caste, stays with us. On a page whose address carries one of those filters, the Meta code does not load at all, and it does not load on the page you open next from it either.
Cookies. Some cookies are needed to run the Platform, such as the one that keeps you signed in. Those are always on. If you switch Meta ads off, we record that on your device in a cookie named evara_ads_consent, so the switch stays off on your next visit. If you have an account, we also store the switch, the date, and the exact words you were shown, so that we can show you later what you were told. Meta sets cookies of its own, from the first page you open, and it stops when you switch it off.
Changing your mind. The switch is in one place, at the foot of this section, on this page. One tap turns Meta ads off, and it takes effect straight away. Once they are off, there is no switch anywhere in Evara to turn them back on, so if you want them on again, please write to us and ask. This is not the same route as section 4. Section 4 covers the consent you give for matchmaking and for the rest of this policy, and that one you withdraw by writing to us or by deleting your account. Turning Meta ads off needs neither a letter nor a deleted account.
Turning off ad targeting outside Evara. You can also limit targeted advertising in general. Meta names two places for this: http://www.aboutads.info/choices and http://www.youronlinechoices.eu/. You can change your ad settings inside Facebook and Instagram as well. Those controls belong to Meta and to the advertising industry bodies, not to us, so we cannot change them on your behalf.
Who is involved. Where advertising tools are used, third parties, including Meta, collect information about your visit and use it to target and deliver ads to you. Here is everyone outside Evara who receives anything, and what each one receives.
- Meta. Runs from your first page, and stops the moment you switch it off. Facebook and Instagram advertising. Meta is told that you visited, and, if you go on to pay, that a purchase happened. Nothing from your profile and nothing from your search filters ever reaches Meta.
- Sentry. Runs for everyone, and is not part of advertising. Sentry records technical faults, such as a page failing to load, so that we can fix them. It carries no advertising data and is never used to target ads. We keep it running for everyone because a broken page helps nobody.
- Google Analytics, PostHog and Vercel. Gone. We used to run Google Analytics, PostHog, Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. We removed all four. Our own counting, described above, replaced what they measured, and those counts stay with us.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Where we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, including by email where appropriate. We keep this policy under regular review.
